Code for Sustainable Homes live webinar launched by Tarmac Topblock

Hot on the heels of its re-launched website, www.topblock.co.uk and its comprehensive 'Report on Sustainability', Tarmac Topblock is continuing to expand the unrivalled training and technical support services it offers to customers by launching its first ever 'Code for Sustainable Homes' 'webinar': a live seminar broadcast over the web.

 

The 60-minute, free webinar - entitled 'Working with the Code for Sustainable Home' - will be broadcast from the Tarmac Topblock website at 11am on Tuesday, 26th June 2007. Tarmac Topblock's technical services manager, Ian Gray, will present the webinar in conjunction with Andrew Minson, head of structural engineering for the Concrete Centre. Anyone who wants to take part in the webinar must pre-register at www.topblock.co.uk/sustain. All participants will receive a certificate confirming their 'attendance' at the webinar.

Focusing on the implications of the Code, the webinar will help architects and specifiers understand how to meet the new technical guidelines set out by the Code. It will also cover aspects of sustainability, highlighting the ways in which Topblock products can be used to meet the criteria outlined in the Code. The Concrete Centre will also explore the sustainability of concrete blocks, their inherent thermal mass properties, and how these properties, once in use along with other concrete elements, have the potential to make a massive, positive contribution to the UK's effort to reduce its CO2 emissions both in the short and longer term.

Ian Gray comments: "The webinar represents an important step in the redevelopment of the Topblock website and our ongoing online strategy. The beauty of our webinar is that it's free to access, and you can view it from anywhere you like, even from the comfort of your own home, as long as you have a high-speed Internet connection.

Using interactive technology, customers who log onto Tarmac's webinar will be also able to post questions on an online 'blog'. After the webinar has ended, a team of Tarmac Topblock technical team will be on hand help answer these 'blog' queries online, and offer guidance on the use of Tarmac Topblock block products as well as their relevance to the Code. This blog information will be available to view by all other registered webinar visitors.
